Night Without A Bed Info:
WHAT: Night Without a Bed provides people and their families with a greater, personal understanding of the challenges facing families experiencing homelessness here in our own community. Individuals, families or groups spend the night in someplace other than their own bed. Family Promise of Albuquerque will have a location where folks can set up a tent or a cardboard box(es) they bring or park their car and stay the night in their vehicle. There will be activities, entertainment and presentations throughout the evening related to family homelessness.
WHY: To generate awareness about the number of families experiencing homelessness in our own community and to raise money for Family Promise of Albuquerque, an organization that empowers families to become self-sufficient and find housing.
WHAT: Cardboard Box City provides young people and their families or groups with a greater, personal understanding of the challenges facing families experiencing homelessness here in our own community. Individuals, families or groups spend the night in a cardboard box(es) they bring and decorate. There will be activities, entertainment, and presentations throughout the evening related to family homelessness. We will also have dinner, breakfast, and varied prizes and drawings for participants.
WHY: To generate awareness about the number of families and dispel myths about the families who are experiencing homelessness in our own community and to raise money for Family Promise of Albuquerque, an organization that empowers families to become self-sufficient and find housing.
HOW: Register above for $25 and collect contributions. This is much like a walk-a-thon. You can get pledges from anyone. Family, friends, teachers, and anyone else you connect with in the community can support you by pledging in your name above. Be sure they mention you in their pledge by leaving a note in the Donor Scroll! You don’t have to spend the night; just come for the program portion if you choose. If you stay over, bring a large box or boxes, a tarp, blankets, a pillow or sleeping bag.
